Ultimate Eggnog
6 large eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
4 cups milk, divided

This recipe makes twelve 1/2 servings
In a large saucepan, beat eggs, sugar and salt, stir in 2 cups milk. Cook over low heat,
stirring constantly, until mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon with a thin film and reaches
160 degrees. Remove from heat, Stir in additional 2 cups milk and 1 tsp vanilla.
Cover; refrigerate until well chilled, several hours or overnight. Just before serving,
pour into a pitcher. If you are serving this recipe at a party, freeze some in a ring mold
to float the rest of the eggnog in, to keep it cold. On the side, set out garnishes;
chocolate curls, cinnamon or peppermint sticks, orange slices, whipped cream
and ground nutmeg. You may also offer your guests brandy, rum or whiskey,
to spike as they wish.
