Ultimate Eggnog

6 large eggs

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 tsp salt

4 cups milk, divided

garnishes

This recipe makes twelve 1/2 servings

In a large saucepan, beat eggs, sugar and salt, stir in 2 cups milk. Cook over low heat,

stirring constantly, until mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon with a thin film and reaches

160 degrees. Remove from heat, Stir in additional 2 cups milk and 1 tsp vanilla.

Cover; refrigerate until well chilled, several hours or overnight. Just before serving,

pour into a pitcher. If you are serving this recipe at a party, freeze some in a ring mold

to float the rest of the eggnog in, to keep it cold. On the side, set out garnishes;

chocolate curls, cinnamon or peppermint sticks, orange slices, whipped cream

and ground nutmeg. You may also offer your guests brandy, rum or whiskey,

to spike as they wish.
