Overnight German Refrigerator Coffee Kuchen

3 cups presifted flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp nutmeg

1/4 lb butter

3 eggs

3 tbsp sugar

1 cup heavy cream

1 pkg dry active yeast

1/4 cup warm milk

1/4 cup melted butter

4-6 apples, peeled and chopped

1/2 cup seedless raisins

1/4 cup chopped nuts

Brown Sugar

Cinnamon

Confectioners' sugar Icing (recipe to follow)

Nuts for garnish

Day before, in a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt and nutmeg. Cut

in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Beat together egg yolks and granulated sugar. Add to flour mixture.

Stir in cream. Soften yeast in milk for 5 minutes. Add to dough.

Mixed well. Refrigerate in covered greased bowl overnight. Next day,

roll out on lightly floured board into large rectangle. Brush surface with

butter. Sprinkle with apples, raisins and nuts. Sprinkle with brown sugar

r and cinnamon to taste. Roll up like a jelly roll. Place on greased baking

sheet. Cover; let rise for about 2 hours, or until doubled in bulk. Preheat

oven to 350 degrees. Bake in preheated oven for 30-40- minutes.

When cool, frost with Confectioners' Sugar Icing. Decorate with nuts.

Confectioners' Sugar Icing

1 cup confectioners' sugar (sift if lumpy)

4 tsp warm water

1/2 tsp lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl; blend until smooth.
