Onion Cheese Bread
1 tbsp shortening
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups biscuit mix
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tbsp melted butter
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease an 8 inch square pan.
Melt shortening in a skillet; saute onions until transparent. Set aside.
Combine egg and milk. Add to biscuit mix; stir until moistened.
Stir in onion and 1/2 cup of the cheese. Spread dough in pan. Sprinkle
with remaining cheese, poppy seeds and butter. Bake in preheated oven
for 20-25 minutes.
